What inspired you to start Lattes & Lemons?
My friends and family would always ask me “can you make me what you’re eating?” or “how do you make that?” whether I was at the dining hall at school or cooking something at home. I have always considered myself a “foodie” so I started Lattes and Lemons to share my love for real food, and if I am able to inspire one person along the way, that’s amazing!

When you’re not blogging for Lattes & Lemons, what are you up to?
When I’m not doing my homework (the less exciting truth) I love to try new restaurants or take advantage of nice weather by going on long walks outside.

When did you realize that you have a passion for wellness, balance, and real food?
I have always been really into wellness and grew up a healthy eater because my parents were also super healthy, but during my freshman year of college I suffered with severe acne, so I really capitalized on using food for healing and recovery. Learning how nourished my skin and body felt from my diet is when I knew I had a passion for real food.

What does “wellness” mean to you?
Wellness to me means feeling satisfied and comfortable with yourself and your decisions regarding the food you eat, how you move your body and how you use your mind. It’s about being in tune with yourself and practicing self love, letting go of what we can’t control and staying present.

Ok, let’s talk turmeric. What is it, and why is it important during this time of year? (I suffer heavily from allergies, so I’m intrigued!)
Turmeric is a bright orange/yellow spice that has vast health benefits.

It contains the compound curcumin which is full of antioxidants and is really beneficial for acne, relieving arthritis and lowering overall inflammation. Since it is so effective in treating inflammation, turmeric can be useful to incorporate into your diet especially around allergy season, as it can help act as a sinus decongestant.

What other super foods should we be paying attention to in order to live a more healthy, well rounded life?
I eat a forkful of sauerkraut everyday! Sauerkraut is full of probiotics and is so good for your gut.
