Shout out to Eli Rezkallah, the founder and creative director of Plastik Magazine and the imaginative force behind In a Parallel Universe, the art concept that has shaken Twitter.
In A Parallel Universe flips the script on old school advertising, shedding light on the blatantly sexist poison that was once a common occurrence from mainstream brands. In this series, Eli recreates real ads through gender role reversal, and the results are nothing but spectacularly dark, humorous, and all too real.
Eli explains his thought process well, according to his website: “Last Thanksgiving, I overheard my uncles talk about how women are better off cooking, taking care of the kitchen, and fulfilling ‘their womanly duties.’ Although I know that not all men like my uncles think that way I was surprised to learn that some still do, so I went on to imagine a parallel universe, where roles are inverted and men are given a taste of their own sexist poison.”
Preach it, Eli.
